Temple Square Flowers

Jack and I visited temple square the other day. 
The flowers are particularly beautiful this year!
I could have spent hours wandering the beautiful gardens

Fun Fact:
There are 250 flower beds and 165,000 plants!



Also, I had NO idea the temple offers a FLOWER TOUR!
Sounds silly but it is so cool!
Definitely worth going.
It's only like 30 minutes long. 





We did a session after walking around. 
Sure love this guy!


It is so cool because the gardens are planted by hundreds of volunteers every year!
Gardeners who upkeep the gardens replant plants after EVERY storm with plants from churches greenhouse. (where they also test new designs for next year)

There's a reason they're so beautiful!

rewardStyle

This past weekend my instagram feed was clogged with the hashtag #rSthecon
I literally could not figure it out....
So, I decided to investigate

The company is called rewardStyle. 
It honestly is one of the most brilliant business plans
So brilliant I was slightly envious I didn't come up with it myself.

So what it is:
The company is an affiliate network and platform that connects brands and retailers to the top fashion bloggers (as well as YouTube stars, celebrities, magazines, and websites) across the globe. 

Bloggers use rewardStyle to find affiliate links for products they are talking about and enable them to monetize their content and audience


So basically,
they provide fashion, beauty, and lifestyle bloggers with product links for whatever merchandise they have decided to talk about, feature or wear. The links allow bloggers to get paid online the same way personal shoppers do offline!
Brilliant!

This weekend they held their second annual conference.
Bloggers from across the world gathered to network, learn and grow their online business.

One Month!

I cannot believe this!
Today marks one month!
One month ago I made thee best, yet easiest decision of my entire life
I married this handsome guy


Dating Jack was beyond my wildest dreams
Within minutes of meeting him I was swept off my feet


(On our very first date together)

Then we got engaged :)
To think dating Jack was amazing... being engaged was a thousand times better!



The engagement was pure bliss
We had the best time planning our special day together



When I thought, there is no way this could be any better...
We sealed the deal
March 28th, 2014





This month has been so incredible
I can't wait for all the months to come
I love you Jack Reed :)

Finals

This week is killing me!
I honestly don't feel like Jack and I have had one break together all week :(
I am definitely looking forward to finals being over!

But, I am so proud of him
He has been working SO hard!!!

Happy Shower!

Yesterday was my sweet friend Elizabeth's bridal shower! It is so crazy we are at this phase of life, and it is only fitting we are beginning it together. Liz and I have been friends since what feels like the beginning of time. My first memory with her was at age four. We would ride our purple tricycles together in circles around her driveway. Sometimes we would be extra ambitious and go down the hill!(It was no coincidence those tricycles were identical!) Ever since then we have been the best of friends.
There are very few people you meet in life that you know without a doubt will be there forever. She is definitely one of those people.

Why Write?

Writing is hard. With finals this week I feel like all I have done is read, read some more, then write, and rewrite, and rewrite again.... It is a very tedious process. Thus far I have written three, five page papers. I still have two, ten pagers and an three page editorial on the new cellphone laws in Utah. All due Thursday.... Admittedly, sometimes I can't help but think about all the other things I could be doing.... So, why write? 



  • Writing is a necessary skill
  • Writing gets us in tune with our emotions
  • Writing makes us ask why things are the way the are
  • Writing brings a sense of accomplishment
  • It is a way to be more organized
  • My beloved Pro's and Con's lists.... that involves writing
  • Writing brings moments of reflection
  • Writing helps form opinions
  • Writing is a learning tool
  • Writing applies knowledge
  • When writing we sort out thoughts, emotions and ideas
  • We are always encountering writing
  • Writing is a form of manipulation (advertising) 
  • Writing expresses
  • Writing is art


That is why. Every word has a purpose.

Because of Him

With all the posts on Instagram this weekend, I was inspired... This year I have been blessed to find the love of my life, and be married for all time and eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple. March 28th, 2014 marks the start of our eternity together. These past three weeks have truly been the most incredible weeks of my life, and because of my Savior I get to be with my love forever.





Because of Him, I was directed to my best friend. 


Because of Him, I know together will be able to return to Him again.


 Because of Him, I have made friendships with incredible girls who are a strength and support in my life. 





Because of Him, our family is eternal.




We had so much support, the love we felt was overwhelming.





Because of Him, we were able to start our happily every after. I am so grateful for the sacrifice He made for me personally.

I just have to brag about my sweet husband for a second. We LOVE quesadillas. We literally make them twice a week.... which is good considering we used to eat them every single day! Well, today Jack made a quesadilla masterpiece. I am still so impressed, so I have to share!!!

Everyday

Today in my favorite class, writing for the media, my professor Rick invited local professionals to come speak to us about their careers writing for the media. There was definitely a common theme... "You ALL should be writing on a public interface EVER SINGLE DAY." Literally every single person.. From directors of communications to editors in chief, they all said having a blog is incredibly important, and maintaining it is even more important. Even if you have no followers ;) So I'm going out on that limb! These were the other points made that inspired me.

1.Start writing EVERYDAY
2.Learn how to write for the web
3.Embrace and welcome feedback – even harsh feedback
4.Learn grammar, style guides and use them daily
5.Embrace unexpected opportunities
6.Build your network
7.Build your social media profile
8.Take on meaningful work—for free or pay
9.Think about what you’re experiencing in your job
10.Be willing to accept jobs outside your “ideal” plan

11.Have a positive attitude and give back


On a completely different note, last nights crock pot dinner was a success! Anyone who wants a seriously piece of cake, delicious dinner MUST try this! 
I call it: Fiesta Chicken




             INGREDIENTS:

       4 chicken breasts, frozen or thawed
1 (15 1/2 oz) can black beans, drained & rinse
1 (15 oz) jar of your favorite salsa
1 (15 oz) can corn, drained
1 (8 oz) package cream cheese 

DIRECTIONS:
Take 4 frozen, yes, frozen boneless chicken breasts and put into crock pot. Add 1 can of black beans, drained, 1 jar of salsa, and 1 can of corn drained. Keep in crock pot on low for about 4-5 hours or until the chicken is cooked. Once it's cooked, take it out and shred it. Return shredded chicken to the crock pot.  Add 1 package of cream cheese (just throw it on top!) and let sit for about 1/2 hour. Stir in the cream cheese. Serve over rice or lettuce or in warm flour tortillas.

Summer Time!

I am very thrilled to announce some very exciting news!!!!! This summer a dream has come true. A few months ago I went out on a ledge and decided to apply for a few journalism internships. I just BARELY switched my degree this semester, but figured what the heck a girl's gotta dream! So I literally went online and applied to my favorite publications here in Salt Lake City.  It has been a while since doing this, so I honestly had been looking into plans C and D when I got this email:

Still dying!!!!!!! That day I had gone in for an interview with my FAVORITE local talk show Studio5. While meeting with the producer she offered me a position on the spot! After talking with my incredibly supportive husband we decided, I of course had to accept them both! So, Mondays and Fridays I will be writing for the magazine, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays I'll be with Studio5!! Definitely looking forward to working my booty off and learning incredible things this summer.



For now I have some reading to catch up on :) Count down to May 6th!!!

The 50 Day Challenge

On Sunday, Jack and I walked into my parents house to find the most tender sweet scene: Nate and his girlfriend Shona reading their scriptures together :) My heart honestly melted at the sight. They have taken this challenge to read The Book of Mormon in fifty days! After seeing them sitting on the couch together studying I was inspired to take the challenge with them, so here it is!

Home Sweet Home

I cannot get over the fact Jack and I are finally married! Life has never been so wonderful and I can honestly say that married life is the Best!!! We have definitely been blessed with so much love and support as we start this adventure together. Since getting married I have definitely taken on my domestic responsibilities with force! Loving every second of it!!!! 

Last week we were able to move into our place. These are a few of my favorite places there :)

I have a dishes obsession...

Thursday I made this Chicken Marsala recipe for dinner. Jack told me it was the best thing he had ever eaten in his entire life! I was clearly thrilled with this response, so I have decided to post the recipe to be sure I never ever lose it!!




INGREDIENTS:
3 skinless boneless chicken breasts, trimmed and filleted in half lengthwise
1/3 cup of rice flour
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 tablespoons of butter
1 (8 oz) container of sliced fresh mushrooms
1/2 cup of sherry wine
1 small can of condensed GF cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup whole milk
6 slices of Muenster cheese
3 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley for garnish
Salt and pepper to taste

DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 350°F. Season both sides of the chicken with salt and pepper, dredge lightly in flour to coat both sides. Shake off excess.

Add oil to frying pan and brown chicken in batches on both sides. You don’t need to cook the chicken completely. It will finish cooking in the oven. Transfer the chicken to a 9×13-inch baking dish.

Add the butter to the frying pan and let it melt over medium high heat. Add mushrooms, season with salt and pepper and brown mushrooms until golden. Then add the sherry wine and cook for another minute or two. Add the creamy mushroom soup and milk and mix well.

Pour sauce over the chicken breasts, cover with foil and bake in oven for about 30 minutes. Remove from oven and top each piece of chicken with one slice of Muenster cheese. You can fold the cheese in half if it is too wide for the breast.

Place chicken back in oven uncovered and broil for 1-2 minutes to brown the cheese. Remove from the oven and set aside to cool.

Top with chopped fresh parsley and serve.
